"The Art Of Grzegorz Rekas"
The process of evolution of my art works brings about two stages. First is a sketch - drawn on paper, and then the next one is a further development of composition and forms on canvas. Usually an artist brings his reflection concerning that, which surrounds him. His point of view is translated into the harmony of color, shape or line, three-dimensional objects and a host of further ideas.
My art evokes an aspect of our anatomy from the very first sketch. When we move our arm then an arch is developed by gesture. Apparently straight lines made by our hand has a nature of the arch, then further transformation brings circle that makes me think about shape as the sphere associated with globe, our home.
I am projectionist who is influenced by cinematography and industrial environment. My time, which has been spread within the hours of continual sound of the projectors and within the dimmed light, enhances my contemplation of passing time. There are no people around for many hours, only sounds like echoes of separation from society. Circumstances when the sketches have mostly their beginning belong to the space of projection room.
As time is passing during the contemplative hours, the constant rhythmic sound of machines brings the line, circle, another line, arch, and again line to life. What emerge from the composition are the transformation, conversion and distortion of forms associated with ordinary views.
The human shape is mostly transformed in my work. Forms are distorted. They have given the directions of gesture, a circle that symbolizes visible form of time. The sphere may symbolize the globe enhancement, a cosmic connotation within the processes in the universe. Finally that idea brings us to industrialization and mechanization of environment, which becomes more natural.
